People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is definitely not a shy organization and quite frankly in the world of animal rights there is very little room for those with a timid disposition. That being said it should still be possible to show a semblance of class while conveying the all important pro-animal message.

Well class-be-gone, enter PETA’s recent love affair with porn stars—I hope you are wearing protection. Last week it was revealed that former porn princess Jenna Jameson has joined adult film icon *cough* Ron Jeremy and star of “The Girlfriend Experience”—don’t let the title fool you it’s not an after school special— Sasha Grey as spokespersons for the animal rights organization.
Jameson stars in a public service announcement (PSA) for PETA’s anti-McDonald’s campaign, McCruelty. The PSA features the star of such classics as “Lickity Slit” and “Where the Boys Aren’t 14, 16 and 17” getting emotional while describing the typical experience a chicken in McDonald’s supply line must endure on a daily basis. In fact according to PETA, Jameson became so overcome with emotion that she “had to stop the action to regain her composure.”
No one should doubt the sincerity of Jameson’s “breakdown” and even more importantly the public at large needs to hear the message expressed in the announcement. But, yes here is the ‘but’, how can anyone outside of PETA’s ultra-supportive inner circle take the words from a porn star to heart. Although I am far from being prudish.
I find it very difficult to watch a surgically altered—and de-altered—woman who has had more wieners in her mouth than Takeru Kobyashi attempt to explain the harsh realities of chicken slaughter. Quite simply, exploitation is exploitation. That includes the disgusting way factory farms treat animals AND the porn industries continued venture into turning young female’s daddy issues into a multi-billion dollar industry.
